CGEP hosts the Graduate Center’s Social and Political Philosophy Workshop, a venue for scholars in the NYC philosophy and political theory communities to present work-in-progress and receive valuable feedback.
This year, we are partnering with the Social Philosophy Workshop to organize a two-day pre-read workshop in April 2026. The annual Social Philosophy Workshop brings together early career scholars and graduate students who examine contemporary social and political issues in interdisciplinary fashion. Previous iterations have been held at UIC, Harvard, Bard, and Vassar.

In other semesters, our SPP workshop sessions are pre-read and consist in: a short presentation by the presenter, brief comments by a respondent, and an open Q&A and discussion between the presenter and participants. They are held in-person at the Ralph Bunche Institute at the Graduate Center (Room 5203), with participation also possible over Zoom.
